Nov. 14th, 2021 12:28 pmI was gifted a lovely, interesting Loki soulmarks story for FiaB! I'm always impressed by writers who make a 5+1 piece into a cohesive story. Also at the collection, I enjoyed this Wallander fix-it and this this Bruce/Clark DCEU gift-giving story.
The wild stretch of getting more than a hundred hits a day than usual on my Venom works that came with LTBC dropping has tapered off, but it was hilarious while it lasted. LTBC is supposed to be VOD on the 23rd, so I wonder if there will be another surge.
Since I posted last, I've seen The Eternals twice, and I love it. I seriously don't know why it's getting such lackluster reviews - it is bros who are crabby a lady is touching their MCU? Is it film snobs who thought ChloƩ Zhao was going to make Nomadland again but with superheroes? Is it people who don't get that it's the first movie for these characters, so it's not going to be Avengers: Endgame? IDK. A lot of what I've read seems to be reviewers disappointed that Zhao made a Marvel movie, basically. There was also an article where the author didn't understand why a movie would cast Angelina Jolie but not let her be Angelina Jolie... uh, maybe if she didn't want to play a supporting role, she wouldn't have signed on?
Got my COVID booster and a flu shot yesterday, and within the space of five hours developed a full-blown cold sore. Not sure I can really blame the vaccinations but considering I didn't even realize it was there until I was eating popcorn at the movie theater two hours after getting the jabs (it's been a few years but usually if I get one, there's itchiness/tingling for a day or so before the actual blister develops), and twenty-four hours later it's healing up... IDK, but it appears other people have googled this happening as well, and getting a cold sore is an immune system response. Other than that and some minor arm soreness, I feel mostly okay.
I watched all of Loudermilk the last few days and ended up really enjoying it despite the first couple episodes being a little rocky. It's a little crass in places (I'm old enough that constant swearing on a TV show is weird to me) and there are a few jokes that are a bit racist (but I suppose fitting for the characters that make them), but it has some good things to say about addiction and inclusion.
