Have I really not posted since February? I suppose there hasn't been much to post about - we have been exceptionally short-handed at work (neither of the two new students I mentioned previously worked out, and while we got two different new students in short order, only one of them has just finished up training - so there have been people in training for four months straight now and I'm SO TIRED), and I have done almost nothing besides read a bunch of assorted books and watch a lot of Northern Exposure and Night Court.

I have taken only four hours off work since my Covid sick leave, and I need like a week of not going to work. The four hours was basically just going to lunch with my dad and sister instead of dinner, so it wasn't very restful. The problem with trying to get time off is someone else has to cover my job when I'm not here, and I have the shift least likely to find coverage, so during the main school semesters I often don't bother unless I have something specific I need off for. But this semester is almost over and then I will take some vacation days!

Speaking of NX, I'm through season five, and started six last night - I am now into episodes I never saw when watching originally in college and I'm actively trying not to dislike Maggie so much, but it's a struggle. Anything where the dynamic between the main male and female characters is "let's bicker instead of flirting, because television tropes demand something more than just simply being friends (plus there's no plot tension if we're just friends)" - and eventually they get to the hookup, because the main male and female characters on a 90's TV show can't just be friends - I always end up being so annoyed with the female character. See also: Sports Night. And then I feel like a bad feminist for disliking the main female character, even if logically I know this isn't a thing for me in every show I watch, just a handful.

I will say by season six Maggie seems a bit more mellow - all the characters have mellowed out, really - and I'm enjoying the less prickly versions of all of them. There's less conflict, and the show has gotten cozier, I guess would be one way to define it.

I signed up for a "finish your long WIP" challenge with the never-ending Stucky - here's hoping a deadline will get me moving on it again.

It's been a while! But I think it's hard to post when you're so busy with work, and training people.

I didn't know you were watching Northern Exposure, which, hm. I didn't really do the bickering male/female leads which goes to romance thing. I still don't? I think that's why I bounced off Castle after a while, I got bored by the bickering. And the giant conspiracy thing.

Good luck with your finish your long WIP challenge. I was totally going to do WIP big bang this year, but then work exploded. I haven't had the focus for a challenge for a bit.
