So in 2021, HBO Max dropped James Gunn's
The Suicide Squad, which is a standalone sequel to the one with Grossface McJaredLeto. (You don't need to watch the Jared Leto one to care about this.) In it, Idris Elba leads a team of super-powered convicts on a mission to a fictional country where they're supposed to destroy all trace of America's involvement with Project Starfish, which is a large starfish-shaped space alien thing that's been in captivity and has been experimented on (it makes little drones of itself and they attach to people's faces and then Starro controls them). Anyway, John Cena's Peacemaker character is a jingoistic asshole, but he does get some good lines that he says with a straight face while Idris Elba is like "wtf, man?". In the end, Peacemaker kills Rick Flag when Flag wants to expose Project Starfish, and then Idris shoots Peacemaker in the neck and a building falls on him, so you think he's dead.
I watched it basically because Idris Elba is there and Jared Leto isn't, but it was funny and weird, and overall entertaining.
Then I heard the show opens with a dance number for credits, makes Peacemaker a canon bisexual, and he has a threesome with a minor female character and his former partner in patrolling the town they live in for crime - and was like, "Well, now this sounds extremely my jam," and watched it. Three times in one weekend.
