Last Friday I felt like my throat/nose were really dry, and chalked it up to the heat being on full blast everywhere because we'd had a string of really cold days. I went home and humidified my house all evening and it didn't help as much as I was hoping, so Saturday when I woke up slightly congested I thought, "This feels like a cold but I'll take a rapid test just in case," and when that was positive I took another rapid test to be sure. And then called work.
Sunday it really hit me - I got up to make a cup of tea and that was the extent of being out of bed, Monday was better - I could be on my feet long enough to shower and make something to eat, but when Tuesday was no improvement over Monday I did a video healthcare visit so I could get a sick note for the rest of the week. Wednesday was the same, but yesterday the sinus congestion was much better - but I was still having the on and off fevers. Ditto today, but I finally feel improved, and did a couple chores.
I tested earlier and it was still positive so I guess tomorrow if I'm still feverish and test positive I'll call the nurse line and see what they recommend re: work.
Anyway, this definitely wasn't how I was expecting to spend the last week of winter semester, or how I was expecting to put a huge dent in my tea stash. I have mostly felt with it enough to read, so I've gotten through several stupid thrillers.
