Apr. 6th, 2026 09:13 amI should probably hit pause on all my Pitt WIPs, as we have only two weeks left and last week's episode [we need a new word for "canon events have contradicted what I was writing" because I refuse to use the previous option] the entire setup I was working for a Robby/Jesse. Although I could definitely re-write the setup parts, since I've only got a thousand words which isn't much to have to retool - but again, I might as well wait until we know how Robby's day actually ends and if there are further updates on Jesse's situation. And I have a lot (A LOT) of WIPs that involve Samira, and so should wait to see how her storyline wraps up as well - even if I end up simply ignoring it entirely.
As I am not me if I don't write something entirely contradictory at least once, I spent the last two weeks writing nearly 10k of NSFW Santos/Langdon, if I cause a commotion. I kind of can't believe I managed to buckle down and finish it - I get enough confrontation at work, I don't need it in my fanfic, so writing characters actually dislike each other and argue was a stretch for me.
Supriya Ganesh's departure: I do think the people in charge of this show overall have been quite clear that given the setup/premise, characters will not all be recurring from season to season. On the other hand, since they've also said the time gap between S2/S3 won't be as long as the S1/S2 gap, I was kind of expecting to see Samira for one more season before she was no longer a resident and took a job elsewhere.
Samira's plotline this season: As a Samira fan, I have to say I am disappointed in most of the character choices made this season. First, it feels like a rehash of her season one arc - which to me read as someone who is not performing as well as Robby wants her to be performing at 7AM, but by the end of the MCI she has proven herself to be able to step up. (Clearly she's thrown into a more senior position for the MCI than she would have been due to the Langdon situation, but it certainly seemed to me like she proved herself.) Maybe we're meant to take S1/S2 as one long arc and the MCI was the peak, and then we don't see those ten months of her reverting back to Slo-Mo, we're just getting the "maybe this isn't the place for me after all" ending.
(And maybe it will all fit together better when I can watch the whole season at once and not have a week between episodes to stew.)
Second, McKay in S1 telling Mohan she needs to have a life and Samira saying that can wait, and now we're supposed to believe her moaning about her eggs dying. I realize the structure of this show means we're jumping from rock to rock in the river of character development instead of riding along in the floaty tube, but that felt so "where the fuck did this come from?". (Also, guys, you already did wants to have a baby characterization with Collins!)
No, Lake, you can't write 50k connecting S1/S2, that would be too much medical stuff.
ANYWAY. Disappointed, but not entirely surprised at Supriya's departure. And part of my disappointment is that it's Whitaker who is seemingly Robby's heir apparent now that Langdon's all fucked up. I have actually been enjoying Whitaker's whole everything this season, so it's not the character himself I'm annoyed by, it's that I wanted that particular role to be filled by someone NOT another white boy. Okay, that's not the story they want to tell with Samira, so why can't it be McKay? (I really thought this is where they were going for a while, with last season Cassie saying Robby's good at figuring out the weird vibes and someone else, I can't remember who off the top of my head, saying the same thing about her earlier this season.)
Langdon: I really love that he's struggling and his first day back is so messy. It's absolutely WILD that Robby covered up the drug tampering. (I feel bad for Santos w/r/t that, and it's fascinating that she still trusts Robby so much in light of the cover-up.)

Date: 2026-04-07 04:22 am (UTC)I also do not love Whitaker as golden boy and wished it was Santos instead. The weird thing about Whitaker is while he may be the golden boy, he doesn't really have a story. Here's there to be good at medicine and affirm his place in EM and pass on Robby's lessons, but he's not changing in any meaningful way. He has screen time, but nothing really challenging him. Even Louie's death didn't linger. It feels like such an odd choice.

Big yup to that! Hoping we get some more clarity on this by the end.
