summer indulgence letter
May. 11th, 2026 01:56 pmFirst things first, hello friend, thank you for writing for me!
I am a simple Lake with relatively simple tastes. My hard DNWs are: Unrequested trans headcanons, pain/gore/death or major traumas (medical things like we'd see on the show are fine!), on-screen violence against women, high school/college/boarding school AUs, omegaverse, bathroom function kinks.
(This is somewhat cribbed from a Yuletide letter but it all still stands. Also please feel free to use anything from any of my previous exchange letters if something in one of those sparks joy.)
Overall things I love in fic, no matter the fandom:
- relationship negotiation
- polyamory
- threesomes/moresomes
- caretaking (hairbrushing, dressing, bathing, etc.)
- snuggling/cuddling in romantic OR platonic ways
- people cooking for others ('food as a metaphor for love' is the AO3 tag of my heart)
- fic where people pretend to be married, accidentally get married, or get married for some ridiculous reason like an inheritance
- soulbonds (romantic, sexual or platonic)
- magic in the everyday (like minor magical things happening, not like a full-out Harry Potter AU, which I do not want)
- name-on-skin stories (romantic, sexual or platonic)
Tropes, basically! All the tropes! I know we're basically doing a 'ship exchange here but I would not mind a more platonic version of a trope if that's where the muse takes you. For example: How do characters navigate being soulmates when it's not sexual or romantic?
I am pretty much open to anything category-wise (I honestly can't believe I've written as much het fic for The Pitt as I have!), and any rating, so if you have a story you really want to tell and it's not on my DNW list, I want to read it! We matched on one of these fandoms and you want to write the characters as polar explorers, bored Taco Bell employees, or dragon-keepers? Yes please. I think I would legitimately cry laughing in delight at any of these characters as Taco Bell employees who hate each other/squabble their whole shift and then fuck in the bathroom.
I am always down for things like "oh no is this an accidental soulbond? damn it!", "uhhh, did we get married last night?", "ps, I'm a werewolf/have wings/can shapeshift into a shark" - and what the characters do about it. I'm also a fan of unconventional endings, so that accidental soulbond doesn't have to end happily, or if characters get purposefully divorced after their accidental marriage, that's cool with me.
