My last-minute signup tweak was to offer Doctor Odyssey, which had aired maybe two or three episodes by the time signups ended, and definitely hadn't gotten to the threesome yet. And since the law of Yuletide is always that you'll get the assignment you least expect, that's what I got. I tinkered with several ideas and ended up writing before you're an avocado, which is basically mpreg crackfic where I tried to use a bunch of the things on my recipient's likes list. But it was fun to do and worked out!
The state of the world being what it is, I didn't feel up to attempting a run of treats, but there was a day I really felt in the mood to write some Good Will Hunting, so looked at requests and there was one that looked applicable, so wrote busted.
I was gifted a sweet little Tomorrowland piece - Magic in the Mark - which made me very happy as the author clearly tried to work in likes I mentioned in my letter.
(I cut out some of the usual questions because I just didn't post enough this year to bother answering them.)
This year I wrote and posted: 17 fics across 13 fandoms. This is more than half as few works as I posted last year, but more fandoms - which is very much in line with how I felt like I was spending a lot of time trying on new fandoms and not clicking with anything enough to write more than a story or two.
Total posted word count: 113,318
Overall Thoughts: My goals for last year, per this same questionnaire, were - "I would like to cross 100k again, finish at least three of my outstanding in-progress things, and cross one item off my "write someday" list. I did cross the 100k mark but only because of the Stucky, I finished three WIPs, and I guess finally writing Matt/Ben again after twenty years counts as crossing something off my "write (again) someday" list.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?: Less - fifty thousand of the words I posted in 2024 were written in 2023 for NaNo, and another 25k was finishing that project, so I didn't write as much in 2024 as I have in past years. But I was glad I had the Stucky for a long-term project, since nothing else grabbed me very fannishly this year.
Fic-writing goals for the coming year: I would like to cross 100k again, finish at least three of my outstanding in-progress things, and cross one item off my "write someday" list.
